I don’t really dig the cardboard but I LOVE the magnetized multi sword vibe. I also want to get into Iaido/Kendo and I wonder if I can make a sword that comes apart to practice some more edgy shenanigans.
I could do a few different things, based on these considerations I’m reasoning out in real time:
- I want to be able to actually swing the sword, so no cardboard
- I don’t have the resources for metal yet, so foam/pvc or wood are my options
- A foam sword could be bigger, but I don’t necessarily want it to be 6 pieces, I would be cool with a 3-piece set so wood would be okay
- I don’t know what woodworking tools I would need, whereas I know what tools I would need to work with foam. The magnets I got at the store might be overkill for the foam though, plus not sure if even superglue would hold magnets to the foam so they would have to be underneath another layer of foam
- I’m leaning wood because I want to be able to actually practice with it, but it would probably also be too bulky for a scabbard so it needs some kind of back holster situation?
- Things to think about…
